About Colomatta Cleaning
Locally owned, eco-conscious cleaning for the Blue Mountains community.

place / place of
The name Colomatta is a blend of two words drawn from the languages of the Traditional Owners of the Blue Mountains — the Gundungurra and Dharug peoples.
Gulu (Gundungurra) means koala. Matta (Dharug) means place or place of. Together: Colomatta — Place of the Koala.
We chose this name as a quiet act of respect — for the Country we work on, for the communities whose languages shaped this land long before it had any other name, and for the koalas whose habitat we share and are committed to protecting.
Our Story
Colomatta Cleaning was founded by Catherine, a Blue Mountains local with nearly 30 years of professional experience as a chef. After decades working in commercial kitchens — where hygiene isn't optional and standards are non-negotiable — Catherine brought that same discipline and attention to detail into the cleaning industry.
We're a new business, but we're not new to high standards. Every clean we deliver is shaped by the same principles Catherine applied in professional kitchens: thoroughness, consistency, and genuine care for the spaces and people we serve.
A Chef's Eye for Clean
Nearly 30 years in professional kitchens doesn't just teach you how to cook — it teaches you how to think about hygiene, contamination, and the difference between a surface that looks clean and one that actually is.
Cross-contamination prevention
In a commercial kitchen, cross-contamination can make people seriously ill. Catherine brings that same zero-tolerance mindset to your home — colour-coded cloths, dedicated tools for different surfaces, and strict protocols that prevent transferring bacteria from one area to another.
Food-safe hygiene standards
The products and methods used in professional food preparation are among the most rigorously tested for safety and efficacy. That standard is the baseline Catherine works from — not a marketing claim, but a lived professional habit.
Attention to detail
Chefs are trained to notice what others miss — the corner that wasn't wiped, the surface that wasn't dried, the residue left behind. That eye for detail doesn't switch off when the apron changes.
Product knowledge
Understanding what a cleaning product actually does — not just what the label says — comes from years of working with food-safe chemicals and understanding their chemistry. Catherine selects products based on what they do, not what they promise.

Enviroplus
Enzyme & bacteria-based cleaning technology
Enviroplus takes a fundamentally different approach to cleaning. Rather than relying on harsh chemicals to mask or temporarily remove organic matter, their products harness the power of naturally occurring enzymes and beneficial bacteria to break down waste at a molecular level — and keep working long after you've finished cleaning.
Product credentials
- No harsh chemicals or toxic residues
- Safe for people, pets, and waterways
- Continues working after application
- Breaks down organic matter at a molecular level
- Septic and greywater safe
- Environmentally responsible formulations
Giving Back to Country & Climate
Enviroplus donates a portion of sales from selected products to the Indigenous Literacy Foundation (ILF) — a not-for-profit with a vision to create equal opportunities for all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children in remote Australia. The ILF provides new, culturally relevant books to remote Communities, including books in home languages and Community-published stories. As of December 2025, Enviroplus donations have contributed over $430,000 — equating to 43,000 books delivered to remote Communities across Australia. Enviroplus also supports Greenfleet, a leading not-for-profit restoring native biodiverse forests across Australia and New Zealand to capture carbon emissions. Since July 2018, a portion of Enviroplus paper product sales has gone toward planting trees — with over 1,430 trees planted as of November 2024.

How enzyme and bacteria cleaning actually works
Enzymes break the bond
Enzymes act like biological scissors — they target specific types of organic matter (grease, protein, starch, urine) and break the molecular bonds holding them together. This is why enzyme cleaners cut through grime that ordinary detergents simply push around.
Bacteria digest the residue
Once the enzymes have broken down the organic matter, beneficial bacteria get to work consuming the residue completely. Unlike chemical cleaners that leave behind a residue of their own, bacteria-based products leave nothing behind — just clean.
Cleaning that continues after you leave
This is what makes Enviroplus genuinely different. The bacteria remain active on the surface for hours after application, continuing to break down any remaining organic matter. Your home isn't just clean when we leave — it keeps getting cleaner.
No chemical warfare on your home
Conventional cleaners kill everything — including the beneficial microbiome in your home environment. Enzyme and bacteria-based products work with nature rather than against it, leaving surfaces hygienically clean without stripping them of every trace of biology.
